Portfolio Purchase - €440m Investment
In March 2005, LINK carried out
the largest purchase of its kind in Europe, with an investment of some
€220 million. The agreement, with one of the world’s largest consumer lenders, involved a portfolio of semi-performing and non-performing consumer receivables. At the heart of the transaction was the acquisition of a significant consumer debt-servicing business, including a 350-seat operational site and the required transfer of 95 employees. Although complex, the transaction was not only completed smoothly but in a minimal timeframe, and was then followed by a further €220m deal. Outsourced Servicing As of 1st December 2009, Link established a new business called Link Financial Outsourcing as a dedicated third party servicer. Having a standalone servicer means that LINK can offer its servicing capabilities direct to its clients as well as to its investment partners. This meets an increasing demand from clients to use LINK’s operational know-how to help them recover the maximum from their own distressed portfolios in partnership over the long term instead of accepting a discounted valuation today. In September 2008, LINK launched
Thesis Servicing, a brand dedicated to the administration and servicing
of government-granted student loans. The transaction involved the assumption of full day-to-day operational responsibilities for and the transfer of 450,000 customers. Thesis Servicing is a purpose-built operation designed to act as a centre of excellence for a wide range of student loan servicing activities. a groundbreaking alliance with one of the world’s largest automotive
finance organisations. With a transaction value of €85 million, it was the most significant partnership of its kind ever to have been concluded in Europe. The long-term strategic agreement included both a purchase and a servicing component and involved the outsourcing of the vendor’s loss recovery unit. As part of the agreement, LINK provides a full range of servicing activities, including our in-house litigation team, the largest in the UK receivables management market. This transaction further reinforced LINK's position as the largest purchaser of automotive receivables in Europe. |
